After passing the bill giving citizenship of Hindustan to non-Muslims, minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, after passing the Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha, the law has now taken shape.

According to Article 14 of the Constitution of India, the state will not deny any person equality before law or equal protection of laws within the territory of India.

This is why the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 is said to be a direct violation of article 14 of the Indian Constitution.

According to Article 14 of the Indian Constitution, this means that the government will not discriminate against any person in India.

Article 15 is attached to Article 14 in the right to equality present in Part-3 of the Indian Constitution. It states, "The state will not make any distinction against a citizen on the basis of religion, origin, clan, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them."


The opposition says that the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 has been brought on the basis of religion. In this, people of a particular religion be discriminated

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) would give Indian citizenship to refugees suffering religious persecution in three neighboring countries and not take away citizenship in India. Amit Shah has said, "The new law does not mean that all refugees or illegal migrants will get Indian citizenship on their own. They will have to apply to get citizenship of India, which will be looked after by the competent authority. The relevant applicant fulfills the required criteria. Indian citizenship will be granted only after it is done.
